A record number of dogs and their families joined in the 2010 Million Paws Walk in Berri on May 16th. With over 80 dogs joining the walk this year - the Riverland contributed 320 paws towards the national million paws walk. The walk started adjacent to the Berri Visitor Information Centre and followed the riverfront, past the caravan park and then down to the marina. The walk then followed the Lions walking trail to Martins Bend, completing the loop and returning back along the riverfront to enjoy the sausage sizzle and competitions.
The most enjoyable part of the day was seeing so many dogs with their families - young and old (including pushers and gophers), exercising and being active, enjoying the wonderful Murray River environment. Spending time with our families - both 2 legged and 4 legged, and being able to raise much needed funds for the RSPCA is a great way of spending a Sunday morning. The Million Paws Walk 2010 raised $1500.00 to help support the work that the RSPCA does for animals in our community that are less fortunate than our own.
