Seniors Health Checks
At Jenni Trewren Veterinary Services we are passionate about achieving positive health outcomes for our Senior patients, which is why we have initated a Senior's Health program within the clinic - aimed at improving the health and well being of our older patients. At this stage we are targeting dogs and cats over the age of seven to join the Senior's Health program.

While increasing age often means decreasing health and fitness - for both ourselves and our pets, there are many ways that we can support our older pets and improve their quality of life. This program is also aimed at detecting chronic disease early enough to be able to reduce the severity and negative health outcomes.
The program incorporates a Vital Wellness Assessment, which goes assess all of the major body systems and also includes blood and urine testing, particularly screening for Diabetes Mellitus and Kidney Disease.
The health assessments also incorporate the use of a plaque test to assist with grading the degree of dental disease present. The IC plaque tests turn any plaque on the teeth bright pink. Maintaining good dental health is very mportant for our older pets - advanced dental disease has a negative impact on overall health, particularly when there is significant infection present.

While we can't make our Seniors young again - we can ensure that they enjoy good quality of life.
