Who are we?

Jenni Trewren Veterinary Services opened for business on January 11th 1999, and since then we have worked together as a team to achieve the high level of care and service that is enjoyed by both our clients and patients.

We believe that pets play an essential  role in our lives, offering unquestionable companionship, love and entertainment. It is the understanding of the importance of this human-animal bond, and the impact of pets on our own health and well being that motivates our desire to pursue the best health outcomes possible for all our patients.

We enjoy working with owners to ensure long term health and well being for their canine, feline and avian companions, and offer a variety of wellness programs designed to maximize health outcomes.

Our Team

We have a team which consists of two veterinarians; Jenni Trewren & Wendy Reimann, supported by Paula Wachtel, Carolyn Carson, Melissa Page and Rhonda Anderson. We are all dedicated animal-a-holics and enjoy having the opportunity to interact with your pets on a daily basis.

jenni trewren

Dr Jenni Trewren BVSc (First Class Honours) MACVSc (Small Animal Medicine)

Jenni grew up in Brisbane, and moved to the Riverland in 1991, after graduating from University of Queensland  - Bachelor of Veterinary Science with First Class Honours. She has lived and worked in the Riverland since then.
She completed post-graduate studies in 1996 when she was awarded Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Science in Small Animal Medicine – a challenging undertaking with a new baby (Sarah) who was allergic to sleeping. Tim joined the family in 1996, and after being a mum for a few years, opened Jenni Trewren Veterinary Services in Berri in January 1999. The name of the business was changed to RIvaPetz Pet Care in 2009.
She feels very privileged to be able to provide veterinary care for so many wonderful Riverland pets, and to help ensure their health and well being for their families.
Katie, her darling black & white cat, has been a part of her life since moving to the Riverland, and features in the “Jenni Trewren Veterinary Services” logo. After 18 ½ years of love and companionship, Katie recently passed away.
The menagerie currently consists of; Rosie the Border Collie, Molly the very naughty Burmese cat, Harry & Henry the cockatiels, Silky Bantams and heaps of much loved Guinea Pigs with some really weird hairstyles and great personalities.

wendy reimann

Dr Wendy Reimann

Wendy has been a member of the team since 2001 giving Jenni some time off during the week and school holidays. She has a husband, Tim, and a son Noah. Their house is also home to 3 cats, a dog, a horse and many other feathered friends.

* Wendy is currently on maternity leave.

paula wachtel

Paula Wachtel

Paula has been a part of the RivaPetz team since 2000, and has thoroughly enjoyed her time working at the clinic.
Animals have always been a huge part of her life, adopting all of the neighborhood strays, orphans and injured creatures as a child. Her particular interest/passion now is in dog behaviour, psychology and training, but she enjoys all aspects of her job, and the opportunity to have daily cuddles from a variety of furry friends.
Now that her children are working and studying in Adelaide, her home is shared with her very understanding husband, her beloved border collies, Honey the Chihuahua x poodle, River the fantastic cat and Merlin the tortoise. In her spare time she shows, breeds and trains border collies under the kennel name Tookurra. You can meet Paula’s dogs at www.tookurra.com.

carolyn carson

Carolyn Carson

I dreamed of being a vet from an early age, and after completing high school in Renmark, studied Veterinary Science at Murdoch University in Perth. Six years and 2 degrees later, my focus had changed dramatically, because I somehow seemed to have acquired a (temporary) husband and 2 (permanent) sons. The ensuing years saw me take on the role of mother with a passion, so much so that I home-schooled both boys up to the end of year 7. By then we'd seriously had enough of each other and the boys happily went off to Renmark High School. One is now an engineer and the other is in year 12. This time presented another change in focus, and I volunteered in many areas, including running a playgroup for 6 years. I then was offered a position as a youth support worker, which I held for 4 years. This involved providing alternative education and activities for youth who did not do well in mainstream education. I was re-introduced to the veterinary profession quite by chance, and now work as a veterinary nurse at Rivapetz Pet Care. I have a weakness for cats, and we have had the company of many gorgeous felines over the years. Unfortunately we have also had the company of less-gorgeous snakes, and it has been a long and hard lesson for us. The next cat will be 100% indoors!

melissa page

Melissa Page

Melissa grew up in Renmark and spent her teenage weekends at horse shows with “Moo”, an Australian Riding Pony that she has had since she was 7 years old.  She moved to Adelaide to study a Certificate II in Animal and Laboratory Techniques at Gillies Plains TAFE.
She moved back to the Riverland after several years working in Adelaide, bringing her menagerie with her.
Hulio & Kuzco are her very loud and cheeky Green Cheeked Conures from South America. Lilli is an Australian Terrier with non-stop energy and the ability to bounce off the walls. Scout is a more recent addition to the family, a Golden Retreiver with the typical attributes of being very slow and dopey, but always willing to please (the best companion).
She has 2 cold water fish tanks with exotic goldfish and 2 tropical fish tanks with rare pleco catfish.
In addition to “Moo” the riding pony, she has a thoroughbred called Red – with attitude to the max.
Melissa has been part of the team at RivaPetz Pet Care since August 2008, and is particularly interested in Nutrition, Birds & Fish.

rhonda anderson

Rhonda Anderson

Rhonda grew up with pets being an important part of her early family life and eventually went on to buy her own horses.
She studied Horse Management in Melbourne in 1985 and went on to work interstate and in New Zealand at thoroughbred studs, preparing yearlings for local and national sales. Rhonda then traveled around Australia, working for horse studs and doing some jillarooing and a little rousabouting – she preferred working with cattle rather than the sheep.
Rhonda settled in Renmark, where she enjoyed some years showing (hacking) her mare locally and interstate, retiring “Coolie” from the ring after a win at the Adelaide Royal Show.
Rhonda and her husband Richard have a small menagerie; Otto & Callie (the dogs), Coolie (the horse), Fatty Cam & Gary (the female cats – named after Geelong football players!) plus chooks, budgies & goldfish.
Rhonda has been part of the team at RivaPetz Pet Care since August 2008.
